Self-Care Stars: Taylor Bradford

Hey Elevators! It’s pretty much my favorite time of the year for Elevate. I was going to say it’s my favorite day of the month–because it’s time for another #ElevatePros interview. But then I realized it’s even EXTRA special this month because it’s also been Boss Bodies week!

(Have you started working through the free Boss Body Mini Training Series yet? I’ll only be available just a little longer, so don’t delay if you’re interested!)

One of my favorite things about running a virtual fitness business is that I get to introduce you to other busy professionals who are modeling the Elevate lifestyle. I’m thrilled to have Taylor Bradford from Pink Heels Pink Truck as my guest this month.

This lady does it all. A Texas gal, she’s on the road a lot as a Petroleum Landman. (Or can we call it Petroleum Landwoman to be politically correct?) Plus she and her husband own a car business. Plus manage rental property. Plus she’s a degreed fitness trainer. Plus she runs a very popular lifestyle blog. Plus a new podcast for creative entrepreneurs. PLUS she has her own online business coaching OTHERS how to start, run, and monetize their own blog.

(Which, by the way, if you have any notion of doing–you should email her ASAP because she’s launching a beta version of her one-on-one coaching service. Only for the next little bit, you can soak up her champagne-flavored wisdom on a beer budget. Learn more at HELLO@BOSSGIRLCREATIVE.COM.)

And did I mention she works out like a beast? So the next time anyone wants to complain that they’re too busy to at work to exercise, I’m going to turn Taylor on them for a little tough-love reality check! Ladies and gentlemen, Taylor Bradford:

What is your profession and any other boards, hobbies, etc. you participate in?

Self-employed Creative Entrepreneur: Owner of a Used Car Lot, Landlord, Blogger, Podcaster, Certified/Degreed Personal Trainer

Favorite motivational quote?

Be Brave.

Please walk us through a typical day for you:

Starts off with getting ready and making a green smoothie for myself and my husband. Then it’s off to our car lot to manage it and run my online businesses. After work, I grab in a workout and then dinner. After that, it’s a night of working on my business.

How often do you workout?

Try to get at least 3 days/week in.

What is one piece of workout gear you cannot live without?

Headband… to keep the sweat from falling out of my eyes!

How do you motivate yourself after a long, exhausting day?

It just depends. If I’m truly exhausted, then I’ll give myself a freebie. I’ll end up hurting myself which would put me out a lot longer than giving myself a break. If I need a swift kick in my pants, then I’ll call a friend to help motivate me.

Favorite workout song at the moment?

Just whatever is playing on Pandora. Like Katy Perry’s theme music.

How do you balance between splurging and staying healthy on a weekly basis?

The biggest thing for me is knowing what those kinds of foods will make me feel like later. That’s a really good motivator for not eating them. If I know the reprucussions are slim and it’s something I truly enjoy, then I’ll indulge myself. But I’m not a huge fan of fried/sweets, so it’s not too hard to balance. Plus I know how healthy options make me feel. So why not keep putting those in my body!!

Any favorite spots to find a quick, healthy lunch/dinner option on the go?

In my small town, that is impossible. I just try my best to choose healthy options wherever I’m dining. Sandwiches…broth soups. Chicken/pork dishes without cream sauces. Sandwichs are pretty easy to grab. There’s typically always a subway around.

What wholesome snacks do you keep at your desk or in your purse?

Pita Chips and Hummus in the fridge. Fruit. Smoothies.

I love how “whatever” Taylor is about her healthy lifestyle. She doesn’t obsess over it. She does what she wants. And yet, because she’s tuned in to that “Boss Body” lifestyle, she knows that being healthy just feels better. That’s what Elevate Mobile Fitness is all about.

Thanks, Taylor, for joining us this month as our Elevate Pro!

Meanwhile, I’m thinking of turning the #ElevatePros column into a weekly occurrence instead of a monthly one. Yay or nay? Let me know your vote in the comments below!
