Self-Care Stars: Linda Liu

Happy Monday! Today is extra special, because we’re about to do something a little different around here. Today marks the first installment of the new monthly column Elevate Pro’s! The first Monday of every month, I’ll be introducing you to a successful career professional who exemplifies the fit lifestyle that we all aspire to at Elevate Mobile Fitness.

Today’s guest-Linda Liu–is the absolute perfect candidate to kick off this column. Linda is a CPA by day, a yoga enthusiast and Krav Maga instructor by night, AND the designer and business owner of a high-fashion fitness apparel line. (According to my count, that’s 3 jobs. Yikes!)

You may actually have seen Linda’s  ActivChica clothing line already, worn by yours truly in some of my photos (shown here, for example.) So fun and high-fashion!

Have something you learned or were inspired by from Linda’s fitness tips for busy professionals, or do you have your own Elevate Pro’s advice to pass on? (Or want to show off a picture of your latest shopping spree once you check out ActivChica?) Share it with the rest of us using the hashtag #ElevatePros.

And now, folks, I present Linda Liu:

_________________________________________________________________________

What is your profession and any other boards, hobbies, etc. you participate in?

I am a certified public accountant and an instructor at Total Submission Fighting and Self Defense that offers IPP Krav Maga training programs.

Favorite motivational quote?

“Never Back Down” which is also the motto of my athletic wear line – Activ Chica.

Please walk us through a typical day for you:

My alarm clock goes off at 5AM which gets me up for the 530AM Bikram yoga class. After a 90-minute stretching, it is breakfast time for me and Pepper (my dog)! While he enjoys a homemade meal such as ground turkey cooked with brown rice and diced veggies, I go for a smoothie and one hard-boiled egg before heading to the office. As for lunch, 99 percent of the time I have what I make on my meal prepping nights. 3PM is snack time and I also like to take a walk around the office building. After work, I make something quick and easy for dinner like sauté leafy greens. At dusk, we take a walk which is the highlight of Pepper’s day. And my night ends early around 930PM.

How often do you workout?

Minimum 4 times a week. I do have a workout routine, but I like to mix it up to bring about different kinesthetic awareness.

What is one piece of workout gear you cannot live without?

My hot pink 21oz hydro flask!

Having a kick-butt workout routine IS possible even with a full-time job--just ask Linda Liu!

How do you motivate yourself after a long, exhausting day?

Cooking with organic ingredients while sipping on a glass of pinot noir.

Favorite workout song at the moment?

I don’t really have a favorite per se…I like hip hop as workout music.

How do you balance between splurging and staying healthy on a weekly basis?

I feel that my consumption of processed food is effortlessly at a minimum level when I am focused on using organic ingredients to cook my meals for the work week.

Any favorite spots to find a quick, healthy lunch/dinner option on the go?

True Food Kitchen

What wholesome snacks do you keep at your desk or in your purse?

Organic unroasted walnut halves and dried figs.

Linda, thank-you in abundance for being our first guest on the Elevate Pro’s column. It was great to see how well a full-time desk job and fitness pursuits can be integrated if you do it right. And I can’t wait to see your next clothing line come out!
